The iPhone 15 is finally here and it brings the biggest change in the form of USB Type-C, you know, the connectivity standard we have been using for a long, long time. This shift to USB Type-C was inevitable, considering how Apple was facing a lot of pressure from regulation authorities, and it is safe to say that this move will definitely help the company standardize its products across the board. Now, all you need is a single USB Type-C cable, and you will be able to charge all your Apple devices, just like it should.
Apple wants you to spend $29.00 on a USB-C to Lightning dongle despite the iPhone 15 shipping with a USB Type-C cable in the box
Now, I was just browsing the Apple Store and found something interesting. It turns out that the Cupertino tech giant is selling a USB-C to Lightning Adapter on the website. While this would have made sense if there was no USB Type-C cable in the box, that is not the case. All iPhone 15 variants do ship with a USB Type-C cable, but for some reason, there exists this dongle that can be yours for $29.00.
Now, honestly, this dongle would have made a lot of sense from Apple if the company had decided to skip the USB Type-C cable in the box. But considering how all iPhone 15 variants do ship with a cable, it makes no sense for anyone to actually spend $29.00 on a dongle that will allow you to use your old Lightning cables. Mind you, this dongle alone costs more than some of the best USB Type-C cables that you can pick up for your new or your old phone, for that matter. So, if you are seriously looking to get an extra cable, my suggestion would be that you go and check out all the options available because, let's be honest, there is no point in getting your hands on this dongle just so you can use your older Lightning cables with your brand new iPhone 15.
