Apple launched the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models at its Wonderlust event earlier this week. The new flagship devices came with a plethora of camera and internal upgrades alongside the new Action Button on the 'Pro' models. While the new A17 Prp chip is plenty powerful, it remains to be seen how much power it consumes and what impact it has on the battery life. Apple did not announce on stage if it has increased battery capacities on the latest iPhone 15 models but according to the regulatory database, it appears that the battery size has been increased on all four models.
Apple's entire iPhone 15 lineup features bigger batteries compared to last year's iPhone 14 models
Before the Wonderlust event, it was reported that Apple would be increasing the battery capacities of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models. Rumors surrounding the subject stated that the increase would reflect a double-digit increase in the battery capacity but the latest findings suggest otherwise. According to the Chinese regulatory database (via MySmartPrice), the numbers are far less than initially anticipated. You can check the battery capacity for all iPhone 15 models below against the iPhone 14 lineup.
- iPhone 15 Pro Max - 4,422mAh against 4,323mAh on iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- iPhone 15 Pro - 3,274mAh against 3,200mAh on iPhone 14 Pro.
- iPhone 15 Plus - 4,383mAh against 4,323mAh on iPhone 14 Plius.
- iPhone 15 -3,349mAh against 3,279mAh on the iPhone 14.
It is great to see that Apple has slightly increased the battery size on all models. Combined with the new A17 Pro chip, the iPhone 15 Pro models will be able to deliver enhanced battery life. It is surprising to see how the company managed to reduce the weight of the iPhone 15 Pro models despite housing bigger batteries. The answer lies in the new Titanium build which has managed to cut down a few grams from the previous stainless steel build.
Take note that Apple has kept the wired and wireless charging speeds the same as last year on the iPhone 15 models despite the new USB-C port. The entire lineup is now ready for pre-order with shipping estimates seeing delays.
