Now, despite adding the USB-C port, Apple is staying humble with the charging speeds. The new iPhone 15 can charge from 0 to 100% in less than two hours, and the phone supports a max charging speed of 27W. However, we have now found out that the new iPhone is capable of outputting a lot more power than the older iPhone that shipped with the Lightning port.
The Type-C port on the iPhone 15 is capable of outputting 4.5 watts whenever you connect an accessory to it. In comparison, the Lightning port only managed 0.3 watts maximum. Now, what does that mean for users? Well, it means that your new shiny iPhone can power things like USB Type-C storage drives. You will even be able to charge your AirPods or other headphones via your iPhone, which is a good thing, and honestly, the possibilities are a lot because your iPhone is now able to provide more power using the new Type-C port.
Again, this should not come as a surprise to anyone because Apple has a habit of not focusing on a lot of these details during the live keynotes, and that is why it is always interesting to see the information that comes out after the event has concluded. The iPhone 15 series is proving to be a success so far, with a lot of people going for these devices and the Pro models being completely sold out across all storage and color variants.
