Qualcomm has finally unveiled the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2; this is the latest chipset built on the 4nm process and, for those wondering, is going to cater to all the mid-range phones for people who cannot get them and on the Snapdragon 8 series phones.

Now, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is comparatively slower than other Snapdragon 7 series processors, with a weaker ISP, as well. This means that we are going to see this CPU in a lot more affordable phones as compared to some of the higher-end phones.
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 brings four performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.95Ghz. The CPU sports an Adreno GPU with FHD+ resolution support and also support for 144Hz refresh rate. The platform also supports FastConnect 6700 connectivity, Bluetooth LE audio, and Bluetooth 5.2.
The new Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 also comes with a lower-power Spectra ISP, which supports a single 200-megapixel camera capable of recording 4K. The chipset also supports a triple camera setup up to 30-megapixel, a dual camera setup up to 32+16MP configuration, and a single camera setup in either a 48-megapixel sensor or a 200-megapixel sensor. Slow motion at 1080p/120FPS is also available. You are also getting support for LPDDR5 RAM at 3,200 MHz and respectable USB Type-C 3.1 standard with QuickCharge 4+.
It is pretty obvious that the newly announced chipset is meant for more affordable smartphones. And it is also pretty obvious that when compared to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, the specs are on the lower side. This could mean that the new chipset is geared towards phones that would be released in specific markets or phones that are really affordable and are not meant for power users.
At the time, there is no word on when the new chipset is going to make its debut in phones, and even Qualcomm has not mentioned it, but we will make sure that we inform you of any phones that are going to ship with the new chipset.
