Earlier this year, we got the chance to look at the Honor V Purse, and at that time, the company only showed it off as a prototype. But it appears that Honor has changed its mind because the device is now available to buy. However, given the nature of this foldable and its form factor, it is only available through a limited pre-sale in China.
The Honor V Purse can be yours if you act fast, but only in China
For those wondering about the Honor V Purse, the device actually comes with a surprisingly stellar 156.5 x 74.7 x 8.6mm and weighs 214g dimensions. And it is lighter than some of the actual phones that are available in the market, and also on the smaller end. Sure, the form factor might not be for everyone, but it is really impressive what Honor has managed to achieve with this device.
The Honor V Purse has just one display that wraps around the device, you are getting a 7.71-inch OLED panel with a 2,348 x 2,016 pixel resolution and a 10.5:9 aspect ratio. When you fold the device, you get access to a respectable 6.45-inch display with a 2,348 x 1,088 pixel resolution and a 19.4:9 aspect ratio. The panel offers 10-bit colors, DCI-P3 colors, as well as an impressive 1,600 nits peak brightness. Sadly, the refresh rate is limited to 90Hz, but you do get 2,160Hz PWM dimming.
Now, despite looking like a flagship phone, the Honor V Purse packs a modest package in terms of specs. You are getting access to a Snapdragon 778G with 16 gigs of RAM. The phone is available to purchase in either 256 or 512 gigs of storage, and it runs on Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2.
On the back, the Honor V Purse brings a 50-megapixel main camera with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera is also there. The phone packs a 4,500 mAh battery and offers 35W USB charging.
It is safe to say that the Honor V Purse is a niche device because you can literally attach a chain to the device and carry it like a purse. As far as the pricing and availability are concerned, you are getting the 16/256GB version for CNY 6,000 (~820). The 16/512GB version costs CNY 6,600. Sadly, the phone or purse might never see a global release date, but if that happens, we will keep you posted.
