Google is finally rolling out Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1, and you can download it right away. This is the first QPR, and as expected, you can get a lot of features.
As the tradition goes, we are going to have a side-by-side comparison of Android 14 Beta 5.3 and QPR1 Beta 1. The QPR screenshots will be on the left. The update is available for Pixel 4a 5g, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel Fold, and we will soon publish a guide on how you can flash the latest update, as well.
The latest Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 brings a handful of changes to Pixel devices.

The Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 now has a "repair mode" for Pixel devices. You can see the strings of code below.

I have a feeling that this is going to work similarly to the Maintenance Mode on Samsung devices, where you can lock your device in this mode before adding it out to a technician as your data remains protected.
In addition to that, the new Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 also brings a more distinctive-looking Quick Settings background. You can check the comparison below.
In addition to that, the Pixel Fold will have a feature that will allow you to continue using apps when the device is folded. This definitely is an excellent feature since you no longer have to open the file again.
Moving forward, the new QPR1 Beta 1 also brings new particle effects when changing wallpapers. This is definitely something that is a small change, but it does seem to fall in line with what Google wants to do with Android going forward.
Google has paid some attention to the Pixel Launcher as well, and now you can see that the settings toggles have been tweaked. You also get "Suggestions before searching" preference, and there is a shortcut that can take you to settings at the bottom of the launcher. These are small but nice changes.
The QPR1 Beta 1 now adds more comprehensive battery information that shows the manufacture date, along with cycle counts. A feature we recently spotted on the new iPhone 15 series as well. Google also shows that the cycle count may not be at zero on first use due to quality inspection.
With the new Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1, Google has also added a new Metro Clock.
Last but not least, the new Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 allows you to set the aspect ratio on specific apps. You can choose from full screen, half screen, or 16:9. A feature that specifically looks like it will be useful for the Pixel Fold users.
