Tecno has just introduced the Phantom V Flip. It is the first clamshell foldable from the company and brings some design elements that differentiate it from what other foldable phones of this form factor have to offer in the market. The phone does bring an impressive set of specs, and since it is not a flagship, it also is one of the cheapest in the market.
The Tecno Phantom V Flip looks like a very expensive clamshell foldable phone even when it is not
For those interested, the Tecno Phantom V Flip is running on a MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chipset that has an eight-core CPU clocked at 3.0GHz. The phone has 256 gigs of storage and 8 gigs of RAM. The phone also has a feature that lets you expand the RAM even further to a total of 16GB, but since it is a software feature, I would not be betting a lot of performance on that.
The phone has an aspect ratio of 22:9, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and can reach up to 1,000 nits peak brightness. The screen itself is 6.9 inches, making it slightly larger than some of its contemporaries. On the back, you also see a 1.32-inch external display that has many widgets that you can use; it displays notifications, and can even be used as a viewfinder in case you want to use the main camera for selfies. Instead of going for the traditional shape, Tecno has opted for a completely circular screen right in the top-middle of the phone.
The Tecno Phantom V Flip has a 64-megapixel primary camera along with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera with autofocusing capabilities. On the front of the screen, you will find a 32-megapixel camera.
Powering the phone is a 4,000 mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging, and you do get a charger in the box. Tecno says that 15 minutes will charge a battery to a half, which is impressive, to say the least.
One of the unique things about the Tecno Phantom V Flip is that it comes with a custom personal assistant named EllaGPT. The company claims that you get access to intelligent features, but we will have to wait and see how it performs in real-world tests.
The Tecno Phantom V Flip is going to be available in Black and Purple, and the pricing starts at €700. Supposedly, the pricing for other regions could go as low as $650, making it one of the cheapest foldable phones in the market.
