The iPhone 15 Pro models rock a titanium finish which is more durable than stainless steel and weighs quite a bit lighter as well. While there are many advantages of using the new metal on the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple states that simply holding the device could cause it to change the color of the titanium finish temporarily. To tackle this, the company recommends users put a case on the device.
You should probably invest in a case as the titanium finish on the iPhone 15 Pro could change color temporarily if you just hold it
Customers have started receiving their iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models and details related to the devices keep on coming. We have recently covered how Apple's latest flagship iPhone 15 Pro models feature discoloration and quality issues. There appear to be discolored patches on some devices that do not reflect the quality of Apple that we are used to. Apple has now updated its iPhone 15 Pro support page with additional details regarding the device's build materials. The company states that holding the iPhone 15 Pro could temporarily change its color and it would be best if users put a case on their new device.
The new titanium finish looks pretty neat, in my opinion, and it adds to the durability of the device. Apple states in its support article that the titanium finish on the iPhone 15 Pro could slightly change color due to the oils from your skin. To be precise, the company states that “the oil from your skin might temporarily alter the color of the outside band.” While the issue will persist, the company asks users to put a case on the device to avoid temporary discoloration.

If you are not the kind of person who would put a case on, the company also suggests users clean their iPhone 15 Pro with a soft and slightly damp cloth. Apple already sells its in-house polishing cloth which could do a great job but it will cost you another $19. The temporary color change on the iPhone 15 Pro models is evident on all four color options. As you can see below, the area surrounding the buttons has changed color to a darker shade.
If you are getting an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus this year, you will not see this issue on the standard models. Potentially, the discoloration of the metal is a drawback of the new titanium finish. All in all, if you are getting the 'Pro' models, you will have to maintain and clean it every now and then.
