Apple’s FineWoven cases were introduced for the iPhone 15 series for the first time, and the accessories are only pricier than the competition but also prone to excessive wear and tear after a brief period. The company likely anticipated that customer complaints would spike, and in an internal memo, Apple updated its retail store staff on how to address every grievance while also educating people on how to maintain those cases.
Apple says in its internal memo that scratches on the FineWoven cases may reduce over time while also pointing out maintenance tips
A copy of the internal memo was spotted by 9to5Mac, with Apple informing retail store employees that ‘you may get questions from customers about the appearance of the new FineWoven material, how it wears over time, and how to care for it.’ Given that the firm’s FineWoven cases’ durability has been called into question, employees have been instructed to highlight the accessory’s material, stating that it is ‘made from a luxurious microtwill, with a soft yet durable suede-like texture.’
This ‘premium’ talk may only appease a few because when you spend $59 on something that is only a protective case for your new iPhone 15, which starts degrading after a couple of days, you will want direct answers. Apple has also informed employees to inform customers about the durability of these cases, stating that these may look different and show wear over time. This is because the fibers get compressed with regular use, so the texture gets discolored easily.
The good news for customers is that retail employees have also been instructed to say that some scratches present on the FineWoven cases may diminish with time, but using MagSafe accessories will leave slight imprints. There is no word if these imprints will be permanent, but Apple provides some valuable tips on how to take care of your case. While not many customers will appreciate doing the hard work and removing the case off of the iPhone 15 for maintenance purposes regularly, it needs to be done when handling materials like this.
To clean the FineWoven cases, Apple says that a lint-free cloth must be dipped into clean water and should be squeezed to leave it only slightly damped. Users should then gently rub the cloth on the case’s surface for 60 seconds. An alternate solution is that customers should ignore spending $59 on these accessories and go for something that is more affordable and durable.
