The concept of virtual parties is something that has become commonplace in the modern day and age. We have Netflix watch parties, and there are so many other options, too. Now, Spotify has introduced a new feature that is called Jam, and as the name suggests, the feature allows people to host listening sessions that people can join from all over the world.

Spotify published a post in its newsroom talking about everything that the Jam is capable of doing. Here is a small excerpt talking about everything the new feature is capable of,
Jam, a personalized, real-time listening session for any group to tune in together. Jam builds on some of our popular social features, and combines them with our personalization technology to make listening with pals better than ever. With Jam, Premium subscribers will be able to invite others to contribute through a shared queue, and enjoy a musical experience made exclusively for everyone listening.
The good news is that the feature is available to both free and premium Spotify users. The latter, however, get the ability to start a Jam session and can even make contributions to the shared queue.
Spotify has made sure that the Jam sessions are easy to start. YOu just have to choose a song or a playlist and then tap the three-dot menu or the speaker icon. Once done, you can invite other people to join the session, and you can then manage the queue.
Another thing about Spotify Jam is that if people are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as you, they will be prompted to join the session on their device when they launch the app. Users will also have the ability to have someone else join the session by scanning a QR code or even sharing a link via various means.
Once a person joins the Spotify Jam session, they will have the option to listen to music from either the same speaker or the host, and they can even listen to the music on their own device.
As the obvious goes, the host will be able to have complete control over the session. They will be able to decide who joins the session, who can change teh order of the queue, remove the songs from the queue, and even enable other users to have similar privileges. The feature is rolling out as we speak, and you should be able to access it pretty soon.
