On paper, all Galaxy S24 models will receive a specifications uplift, but it is refreshing to see Samsung giving the base and ‘Plus’ variant some importance, at least according to one tipster. The latest information claims that all versions arriving in January next year are said to feature displays with brightness levels of 2,500 nits, along with minor increases in battery capacities for all members except for the ‘Ultra’ variant.

The base and ‘Plus’ members of the Galaxy S24 lineup are said to get some notable upgrades, though Samsung is still not keen on increasing the total wattage support for all three models. The regular Galaxy S24 is said to be limited to 25W wired charging, while the remaining two can support up to 45W, just as long as compatible accessories are used. The similarities exist in the maximum brightness levels, with all flagships scheduled to arrive next year rumored to feature a display that can top out at 2,500 nits.
We have also reported that even the base and ‘Plus’ models will be treated to LTPO screens in 2024, making it the first time that Samsung potentially brings this upgrade to the entire lineup. Previously, such displays were only reserved for the ‘Ultra’ versions, so it is pleasing to see Samsung bring such improvements, at least according to rumors. Next, we have the battery capacities, and those wanting to upgrade to the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be disappointed to know that Samsung’s top-end flagship will feature the same 5,000mAh cell as previous-generation models.

Fortunately, the less expensive versions are said to house a 4,000mAh and 4,900mAh battery, an increase from 3,900mAh and 4,700mAh on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus, respectively. The base Galaxy S24 will be limited to a Full HD+ resolution, while the remaining two will have crisp WQHD+ panels. Unfortunately, the tipster did not mention the maximum supported refresh rate.
Just a few hours ago, we reported on the Galaxy S24 design leak, which revealed that Samsung is switching to flat edges just like Apple’s high-end iPhone family. And while Ice Universe does not mention this in his post, the Korean giant might bring the same design change to the rest of the lineup. So far, we are impressed with what Samsung is planning to release early next year, and to be fair, these upgrades were necessary to help get ahead of its rivals. With the company’s struggling in major markets, these improvements were long overdue.
