Some users also state that the screen dimming is a hardware issue. However, the same issue is also present in the first generation of the Apple Watch Ultra. This suggests that the screen dimming is a bug part of Apple's latest watchOS 10 update. If it is a software issue, the company will potentially fix the bug via the watchOS 10 software bug in the future.
According to reports, the issue is noticeable when they go from a bright to a dark environment and when the Wayfiner and Ultra Modular watch faces are set. Potentially, the ambient light sensor in the Apple Watch Ultra needs proper calibration which could fix the issue.
