Earlier today, Samsung finally unveiled the Galaxy Tab S9 FE along with other Galaxy FE devices. The new tablets were particularly impressive given the low price tag, and honestly, I am glad that Samsung is offering something that is this good. However, it appears that these tablets might be a downgrade for those who are into using Samsung DeX.

Now, don't worry. Both the Galaxy Tab S9 FE variants do support Samsung DeX, but not the way you would think. This is likely due to a USB-C issue, but apparently, digging through it does not reveal enough information.
If you go through the fine print, you realize that both the Galaxy Tab S9 FE tablets come with USB-C 2.0 instead of USB-C 3.2. This means that these USB ports cannot run DisplayPort capabilities. Now, this is sad because this means that the new tablets cannot run Samsung DeX externally, but for some reason, the wireless option is also missing.
At the time of writing, there is no official explanation as to why this feature is missing. However, we will be sure to keep you updated as we get our hands on more information from Samsung regarding the missing DeX support on the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series. If you want to use the feature, you can use it to run the desktop environment directly on the tablet and attach a keyboard cover along with the rest of the peripherals. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE series is an excellent choice for anyone who is looking for productivity-oriented devices. They come loaded with all the goodness that you would expect from a more expensive device, including a metal body, IP68 rating, S Pen, and more. Perhaps the most attractive thing about the new device is the price, as the new tablets start at just $499 for the base variant, which is still much better than what the competition has to offer.
