The iPhone 15 Pro Max managed to outpace the Galaxy S23 Ultra in an earlier speed test, holding a minuscule lead of only four seconds at the end of two laps. In the latest battery drain test, both flagships are comparable to one another, but once again, Apple’s top-tier offering for this year retains the crown for having the highest endurance, but it was not always the smoothest run for the device.

Starting off with the one-hour phone call test, PhoneBuff notices that even after 60 minutes, the iPhone 15 Pro Max may not be displaying the correct battery percentage as even after this phase, it retains 100 percent of its charge, whereas the Galaxy S23 Ultra is down to 97 percent. Though the iPhone is technically ahead, further tests will likely stabilize those results. When running a browser, the CPUs of both flagships are stressed considerably.
However, the Galaxy S23 Ultra reduces the gap with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with both devices now having 79 percent available battery. Even when running Instagram, both handsets are tied with one another, but in the 16-hour stand-by mode, where iPhones have generally performed better, Samsung’s Galaxy S range has caught up thanks to bigger battery capacities, more efficient chipsets, and improved software optimizations.
Over here, the Galaxy S23 Ultra finally manages to take the lead against the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it maintains that difference when playing Alto’s Adventure. Would this mean that Samsung’s current Android champion would outlast its newest rival? When the Galaxy S23 Ultra powers off, the iPhone 15 Pro Max still has 6 percent charge remaining, which is impressive, seeing as how, in the majority of the tests, it was lagging behind. It is also important to note that Samsung’s flagship features a bigger 5,000mAh battery compared to the 4,422mAh cell on the iPhone and was still unable to hold out.
