According to phone dealers, all Mate 60 versions, including the ridiculously expensive ‘Ultimate Design’ model, continue to outsell its competitors in the region, potentially creating problems for the likes of Apple going into 2024.

There have been reports of customers in China forming long queues outside of Huawei’s physical stores to get their hands on the Mate 60. In total, the former Chinese giant introduced four models of its latest flagship, with all four of them fueled by the Kirin 9000S, and according to a report published on MyDrivers that Huawei Central spotted, all variants appear to be out of stock. The launch will be viewed as a major setback for Apple, considering that China is one of the technology giant’s biggest markets by volume.
The report states that phone dealers have pointed out that the Mate 60 is always in short supply, with units going almost immediately out of stock as soon as they are available. Even though the iPhone 15 touts superior hardware, the Mate 60’s popularity boom in the region might have more to do with domestic buyers wishing to show unrelenting support to a company founded on their home soil rather than one formed in the U.S.
TrendForce has also highlighted that Huawei’s resurgence is one of the reasons why Apple will experience new challenges in 2024 when it comes to iPhone shipments. Qualcomm may reportedly lose up to 60 million chip orders next year thanks to Huawei’s Kirin 9000S, and TSMC’s annual revenue may be negatively impacted by 10 percent due to these recent events.
Previous estimates revealed that Huawei will ship around 20 million Mate 60 units in China, but there is no word if it is pursuing successive flagship launches with more advanced chipsets powering its innards. So, this victory might be a short-lived one, possibly giving Apple the upper hand in the future.
