Apple’s previous iMac Pro was introduced back in 2017, featuring an Intel Xeon processor, and given the entire family of Macs, including the Mac Pro that has transitioned to the M-series of chipsets, it remains to be seen when the ‘All in One’ workstation will see a launch. Unfortunately, the company still appears to be working on this model, with an unveiling not expected until 2025.
New Apple Silicon iMac Pro could sport other additional upgrades such as a mini-LED
Where the now discontinued iMac Pro featured a 27-inch Retina display, Apple is rumored to stretch that screen real estate, introducing a 32-inch mini-LED panel, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In his launch predictions for Apple products, Kuo talked about an iMac refresh, along with the iMac Pro, but unfortunately, the latter’s unveiling may not happen until 2025. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has also stated below that early work is being done on the workstation, meaning that Apple will likely take its sweet time with the launch.
The company was recently reported to have cut orders for the M3, as iPad and Mac demand continues to stumble, and the situation is not expected to get any better in 2024. As the work-from-home trend finishes, with companies demanding employees return to office premises, it becomes increasingly difficult to generate demand. Also, since there is a global inflation problem, it becomes an uphill battle trying to sell a premium product like the iMac Pro to the masses, who are already struggling financially.

In times like this, consumers who actually want a Mac as their daily driver will search for the best deals and that killer bargain. Sadly, at this time, the only time these people will get both is with MacBook Air models featuring the M1 and M2 SoC. Apple has probably allocated fewer resources to the iMac Pro, with the company slated to launch it a few years from now, just in time for markets to recover. During this recovery period, consumers could have more disposable income to splurge on high-end products like this.
