Earlier this month, we reported how Google has finally brought Passkey support so you can sign into your accounts without passwords. At that time, the company also talked about how more apps and services will be bringing support for it, as well, and today, we have an official confirmation from WhatsApp that support for Passkeys is finally here.
Passkeys are making their way to WhatsApp for Android, and we couldn't be happier
This means that you will soon be able to log in to WhatsApp using a passkey like your face, fingerprint, or PIN. Now, this might look scary for some users, but as we have explained before, a passkey is a safer alternative to a password because they are stored on a device, and you cannot simply steal it or guess it. Passkeys also work with multifactor authentication.

It is definitely good that WhatsApp is introducing Passkey, and while the advantages might not be clear right away, it is worth noting that, at the end of the day, it is for the betterment of security.
If you are looking to try out Passkey login on WhatsApp for Android, the feature is now rolling out to the stable channel. However, considering how this is a staged rollout, it might take some time before you can access it. I still would advise you to start using this way of logging in because it is much more convenient than anything else.
Honestly, I am really glad that WhatsApp is getting support for Passkeys, and I can only hope that other apps that are avialable in the market could follow suit in the coming future because having the ability to login without using a password is super convenient, especially when yo know that the safety element is still there and better than ever.
