A super-sized version of the iPad Pro with a 14.1-inch display has consistently been mentioned as part of the rumor mill, and there was a modicum of a chance that Apple actually launched this version of the tablet. Sadly, the company went against its original decision to focus on the OLED models, which are slated to arrive next year.
No word on the development of a bigger iPad Pro, but earlier reports suggest the company was testing prototypes with a more capable SoC
The largest iPad Pro sold at this time features a 12.9-inch mini-LED screen, and according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his ‘Power On’ newsletter, an unveiling was on track to happen this year, but the company decided against it. According to AppleInsider, the California-based firm decided to focus on the 13-inch update, which is said to launch next year with OLED and M3 upgrades, along with support for a revamped Magic Keyboard that will feature an aluminum build and larger trackpad.
Unfortunately, Gurman has not commented on the fate of the 14.1-inch iPad Pro, suggesting that even if it is under development, the Bloomberg reporter has not given an update, though past reports and rumors suggest that work is diligently being carried out on the bigger slate. For instance, one rumor stated that the bigger iPad Pro would have a size advantage thanks to its increased screen real estate and run a modified version of iPadOS, along with the ability to hook up two high-resolution displays simultaneously.
In another rumor, Apple was said to be testing the larger tablet with the M3 Pro instead of the regular M3, with the latter most likely reserved for the 13-inch OLED model. Apple would have to give the larger iPad Pro a significant specifications bump to justify a purchase, so a version with the M3 Pro would make perfect sense. There is no word on what display technology Apple intends to use for this model, but we will keep our readers posted on these specifications and more in future updates.
