OPPO just announced its Find N3 foldable smartphone, but the company also had a few extra goodies to share with the audience, such as the unveiling of its new ‘File Opening Anywhere’ feature. As the name suggests, this addition allows users complete and uninterrupted access to various file types that were inaccessible before unless they were using a specific operating system, much like what Apple does.

The company demonstrated the ability to open up to 40 different file extensions without worrying about running into problems. ‘File Opening Anywhere’ is expected to work without the use of any external equipment or paraphernalia, such as installing an extra plugin, being required to be connected to the same LAN or internet connection. Users do, however, need to connect to an external website, with the address being ‘cloud.oppo.com,’ and then wirelessly upload and download file types on the File N3.
The new feature also supports file types used on Apple’s Mac and iPad lineup, making it a seamless transition if you are working with different operating systems. Apart from File Opening Anywhere,’ OPPO has also announced ‘File Anywhere Door’ which allows you to send important files that can be accumulated in one place and shared through a simple ‘drag-and-drop’ process. One limitation we believe might exist is that the feature is only supported by the N3 now.
Since the address provided by OPPO belongs to the company only, the feature may remain exclusive to the latest foldable smartphone. There is no word if the Chinese phone maker intends to support other models or if customers will have to upgrade to this foldable flagship to experience ‘File Opening Anywhere.’ We have also yet to witness Apple’s response to this; will it accept the new feature with open arms or proceed with further implementations to prevent the access of its own file types? It looks like we will find out in the future.
