Apple has officially announced watchOS 10 to the world which comes with a boatload of new design changes and features. watchOS 10 has hit a huge milestone as the software has reached its tenth iteration since its launch in 2015. watchOS 10 finally brings widgets to the table which allows users to see information at a glance. watchOS 10 brings a plethora of new changes to the table. Take note that all watch faces will have the option to reveal widgets in a smart stack. All you have to do is spin the Digital Crown and the smart stack would come up to reveal information at a glance. Additionally, widgets are also designed in a way that can house multiple complications. The update also adds two new watch faces to the mix which include a new Pallete watch face with a color-focused approach and a new Snoopy & Woodstock from Peanuts watch face,
As for the updated apps, the World Clock now includes colors in the background depending on the time of the day. The Workout app now features a trophy case and full-screen videos for Activity rings. Furthermore, Apple has also asked developers to redesign their apps with full-screen layouts. This will have an impact on the user experience and make the screen seemingly appear bigger from a usability standpoint.
Since the Apple Watch is also a health-tracking wearable, watchOS 10 also brings a boatload of improvements in the Workout app. The company has enhanced two workout modes - Cycling and Hiking, allowing users to connect their accessories with the device. Furthermore, Maps on Compass is enhanced with trail routes and a topographical view.
watchOS 10 also focus on Mental Health as part of physical health. According to Apple, reflecting on the state of mind can have an impact on emotional awareness and resilience. Users can use the Mindfulness app to log in their emotions and moods on a daily basis, allowing users to choose through a range of shapes to reflect and describe their feeling.
Other than this, watchOS 10 also introduces Vision Health which caters to Myopia. The Apple Watch can detect the amount of daylight necessary for healthy vision through the ambient light sensor.
